Closedown

Former Antioch University Trustees Make Public Statement To Current AU Trustees! Result? MORE delay of legal action!

Hello from Yazz Allen!

Antiochians facing the closedown of Antioch College, Ohio, in July 2008 are now being treated to a game of "good cop/ bad cop" enacted by former Antioch University Trustees communicating (like ambassadors) in a public letter with the current Antioch University Trustees. Old trustees are the "good cops" in this phony game, and the current trustees are the "bad cops." Really, these are just people on the same side, playing the same game, hoping for the same outcome...

What, exactly, does "saving Antioch College" mean? It means keep Antioch College OPEN without interruption past July 2008!

We have to be quite clear about specifically what we mean when we state we desire to "save the college," the poignant but vague phrase so many are using currently, obviously with great sincerity.

Those in power on the Antioch University Board Of Trustees include themselves and their decision to close Antioch College down in 2008 as "saving the college," or at least claim that publically.

If Antioch College is to be saved, it must be kept open past July 2008, and the decision to close it must be opposed and stopped. Resources gathered to "save the college" must be used to keep Antioch College open, and to oppose those closing it, probably in court and probably using lawyers.

Arthur Zucker '55, Antioch University Board Of Trustees Chairman States Emphatically His Closedown Decision Will NOT Be Reversed

Hello from Yazz Allen '66!
(Contact me directly at YazzAllen@Yahoo.Com)

Arthur Zucker '55, Antioch U. BOT Chairman, stated on July 23, 07 that the decision to close down Antioch College will not be reversed. This statement appeared in the very last paragraph of a message me made public July 23, 07.

Here is a July 23, 07 public communication sent to a McGregor School (Antioch U. Biz School in Ohio) communications forum.

ANTIOCH ADVENTURE PART ONE (1967) Benefit at Little Art Theatre Today at 3 PM (July 21, 2007). Star JOHN DRAPER remembers 1967!

Hello from Yazz Allen '66!

Here's a notice by current Antioch College Kelly O'Keefe '08 who organized a benefit to oppose the Antioch College closedown set for July 2008 announced by the Antioch University Board Of Trustees last month (June 2007).

Antioch U. Spokeslady Announces Antioch U. Board Of Trustees Will NOT Change The Closedown Decision...Fundraising Doesn't Matter

Michael Casselli, Antioch College alumnus, posted the following message written yesterday (July 20, 2007) by Mary Lou LaPierre, Vice Chancellor, Office Of Development, Antioich University World Headquarters (she's the senior paid PR person for Antioch University Board Of Trustees).

Ms. LaPierre states firmly the Antioch University Board Of Trustees has NO intention of allowing Antioch College to remain open after the announced July 2008 closedown date. The Antioch University Board Of Trustees (Ms. LaPierre is their official, paid spokesperson)) will NOT be moved by all the fund raising going on now.

Unless the Antioch University Board Of Trustees is stopped legally (injunction, removed due to malfeasance, etc.), the closedown will proceed. This closedown announcement is NOT about money, as claimed. It's about power for the Antioch University Board Of Trustees and administrators, and the remaining University Of Phoenix type campuses which will carry the name "Antioch" but will go down in history (unless stopped) as assassins of Antioch College in Yellow Springs, Ohio, founded in 1852 by Horace Mann.

George Will's recent (July 2007) WASHINGTON POST attack on Antioch College: Meg Rosenfeld '69 Fights Back, And Does A Good Job!

Veteran Washington Post writer (and Antioch College graduate, class of 1969...she was in charge of makeup on THE ANTIOCH ADVENTURE PART ONE [1967] movie, now a classic about Antioch Colelge) Meg Rosenfeld answered a scathing attack on Antioch College predictably mounted by famous right wing zealot and ideologue George Will, who went to Princeton U. and didn't learn much about why America became great due to education away from Princeton U.

Her letter to the editor/ op ed piece is wonderful! Thank you, Meg '69! George Will stands corrected!

Here is what Meg wrote in response to the George Will story attacking and defaming Antioch College ( a long time activity of the right wing press and its zealot spokesmen):

Antioch U. Board Of Trustees Continue Strategy To Subvert And Drain Energy At Antioch Alumni Meetings Meant To Oppose Closedown

The Antioch University Board Of Trustees headed by Chairperson Art Zucker '55, North Carolina Millionaire, desire that the current opposition mounted all over the USA and outside it working to reverse the closedown decision the Antioch U. BOT made re: Antioch College come to nothing, and the BOT has strategies to support their desire.

So far, the strategy is working.

Antioch Alumni meetings to oppose the shutdown of Antioch College in July 2008 and allow the school to remain open without interuption are being visited and dominated by Antioch University Board Of Trustee speakers.
