Hello from David Allen (Birth Name), '66, aka "Yazz Cudd."
I find the new website design hard to read and confusing, even dizzying.
Ease of reading is important, and user-friendly graphics are too.
It's tempting to ornament the site into pages with many features, but the more the "gingerbread," the more distracting it all is. It gets overwhelming, and doesn't invite comfortable and ready participation.
Good media has to be inviting and simply presented in an understated way. It shouldn't overwhelm newcomers or old time users. It definitely shouldn't scare people away with its complexity and technical virtuousity.
The "new" format makes me dizzy.
The small size of fonts is a big problem which adds to the "getting dizzy when one first sees it" reaction, and makes it both harder to read and review.
This site is the creation of a high level of technical ability and interest, but "techies" traditionally are not writers or deliverers of media. They are not people who move to communicate with large numbers of persons, or who think about problems part of all that.
The basic questions must be "Is the site easy to read and use? Does it invite these things attractively, and make users and potential users comfortable?"
The very existence of this site is a wonderful thing, and I applaud the efforts to create it and maintain it, and am grateful to Yazz Atlas for doing all he's done.
I don't mean critical words offered above in a mean-spirited way. I hope criticism I offer won't be taken the wrong way.
Best wishes to the new AntiochSucks.Com format, however it comes out.
Thanks for reading this.
