"The website shows wonderful photos and text from the March 15, 2004 edition of the Antioch College RECORD student newspaper. Photos by Antioch students Ken Tiven and C.J. Pressma must be seen to be believed.
One photo shows a pretty Antioch co-ed named Mary Haan being physically dragged away by police along with then Antioch junior year student Sylvia Law, who later became an NYU law professor and winner of a MacArthur Foundation "genious award" in recognition of contributions she made to American society. She certainly made an impressive contribution in March 1964 in Yellow Springs, Ohio, and the photos provided by the ACRE memorial website tell the story.
Anyone interested in Antioch College history, and Antioch students at their best and most noble should check the website out.
Here's information about it from Jay Siegel '64:
"I've updated the web site about the March 14th civil rights demonstration in Yellow Springs:
http://www.acre.siegel-memorial.org
to include the Student Personnel Committee report on the demonstration, and
Joel Aber testimony to President Dixon's special committee on social action."
