A few noteworthy details: the new controller, Don Tecklenberg, replaced old controller, Rosalie Sturtevant. Rosalie reportedly left because she didn't like doing three jobs for the price of one.
On Monday, the College Budget Committee will hold its first meeting for this year. The committee apparently remained dormant until a new controller was hired.
Now that Don is here, he has discovered that the College is actually looking at a $2.2 million defecit, about twice the size of what we thought before the winter break.
How did this happen? Rosalie agreed to work until her replacement took over. So it seems like it wasn't a matter of not having someone - Rosalie was working until Don came along.
How did she overlook such a glaring figure? But most importantly, what is the College going to do now? This is serious shit, as the Board only "allowed" a $500,000 defecit for the 04 FY."
